Procedures:
A) Pour into a 500 ml flask, 52 grams of lead nitrate into 380 ml of distilled water.
B) Pour into a 500 ml flask, 36 grams of potassium iodide into 430 ml of distilled water.
C) Shake both well until the particles are dissolved.
D) Pour 100 ml of lead nitrate into a 200 ml beaker.
E) Pour 100 ml of potassium iodide into a separate 200 ml beaker.
F) Using the 500 ml beaker, mix them together which will produce a yellow substance.
Balanced Equation
PbNO3 + KI= KNO3 + PbI
Double Displacement Reaction
Safety Procedures:

C) Do not taste or touch any of the substances created in this experiment.
D) Always handle mixtures with caution.
Questions:
1)
Why did it turn yellow?
2) Who first did this experiment and when?
3) What is this substance useful for?

Born: September 6, 1766 in Eagles Field, England
Died: July 27, 1844 in Manchester, England
John Dalton became a teacher when he was only twelve years old even though he was a self taught man. The exact dates for most of his work is unknown because a lot of the files were destroyed in the bombings of England during World War II. John used his diary to write down most of his observations and that is where researchers found that most of his serious work was started in 1787. By this time, he had over 200,000 entries. When John Dalton died in 1844, more than 40,000 people came to his funeral to bid him farewell.
Scientific Event:
In 1787 the first steamboat was invented by an American inventor named John Fitch. On August 22, 1787, his first steamboat navigated the Delaware River for the first time.
Historical Event:
On May 25, 1787, the Constitutional Convention opened.
Cultural Event:
A completely new government plan for the American people was presented on September 17, 1787, by the leaders of the Constitutional Convention.
